Walter Panas Students Honored in Westchester Science and Engineering Fair: Walter Panas High School students were honored with a number of awards at the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair this past Saturday (March 15) at Pace University. Walter Panas High School students were among the award recipients: Jonathan Grossman placed first in Computer Science and won the Intel Excellence in Computer Science Award. Usama Javed won three awards: the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library Association Award, Yale Science and Engineering Association Award, and Ricoh Sustainable Development Award. Miriam Javed won the CIBA Excellence in Science Award.
The 2008 National Scholastic Indoor Championships Track and Field:
Thousands of the top Track & Field athletes throughout the US & Canada came to participate in The 2008 National Scholastic Indoor Championships that were held this past weekend at the 168St Armory in NYC. Lance Roller a senior at WPHS competed in the top seeded 800M race and finished 4th with a time of 1.53.05, earning him All-American status. The top 6 finishers are declared All-American. In addition, he was one of 10 recipients’ of the Academic All-American Award. His sister Brie Roller a Freshman at WPHS was one of five freshmen in the women's 800M run and finished 21st in a field of 51 running a personal best of 2.17:17.
