Stock Market Project Assignment

 

Your stock market project is due on January ???rd , 2005.

 

*I will periodically check your progress, so you will need to keep up with the assignment each week. 

 

*You may get this information from the newspaper, bigcharts.com, stockmaster.com, yahoo.finance, msn.com, or any other site that you can find. 

 

*You will be granted $100,000 dollars so in addition to keeping track of how each of your stocks is doing.  You will also have to keep track of your total investment.

 

*Choose stocks that you want to follow, they must be different than every other student, choose ones that are easy to find. 

 

You will need to turn in the following:

1.     20 Stock Charts (Approximately three (3) from each week) which include:  A) the Last/Close (for each stock), B) the Change (for each stock), and the C) Close and D) Change for the Dow Jones and the NASDAQ averages, as well as the E) total value of your investment and its F) change from the previous day.  Once during the project you will also need to find the 52 Week High/Low, the Dividend, and the Symbol for each one of your stocks.

 

2.     Responses to the following questions in either paragraph or essay form:

·        What did you learn from monitoring your stocks?

·        Which one of your stocks was the most interesting to follow and why?

·        How did your two news stories affect your stocks value?

·        Which, if any, of your stocks would you really invest in?  Why?

·        What is the most important thing that you have learned about the stock market from this project?

           

3.     Six graphs: One showing the change in the value of each of your stocks throughout the project and another graph of the progress of your total investment.

4.     Paragraph about each of  the 5 companies that you followed.

 

Please prepare all of this information in a neat, organized, and legible fashion.  All of this information must be either stapled or enclosed in some sort of folder.  The stock market project is going to count for a large portion (20%) of your grade, so please give this project your full attention, and preferably not just the night before it is due.
