Course Description:
This is the second year of a three-year sequence comprised of the NYS Learning
Standards. The principal strand of this course is geometry. The algebra is integrated
with geometry of right triangle relationships, similarity, coordinate geometry,
transformations and circles. Logic is incorporated in problem solving, locus,
permutations, combinations, probability, formal/informal proofs, circles and
independent projects. The Math A Regents examination will be given in January
and a departmental examination will be given in June.
Students will be given the opportunity to work with the graphing calculator,
Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus.
Required Materials:
Students are required to bring a scientific calculator to class every day. The
recommended model is Texas Instruments TI-30II. Other required materials include:
1 ½ inch three ring binder with dividers or
5-subject notebook and folder
Looseleaf paper
Blue or black pens
Pencils
3 ring hole punch
