Course Description:
This is the first year of a three-year sequence comprised of the NYS Learning
Standards. The principal strand of the course is algebra. The algebra will extend
to factorable quadratic equations and systems of equations, while integrating
with graphing, simple geometry, and statistics. The students will take a departmental
examination in June. The Math A Regents will be given in January of the second
year of this program.
Students will be given the opportunity to work with the Texas Instruments graphing calculator (TI 83-Plus) in class.
Required Materials:
Students are required to bring a scientific calculator to class every day. The
recommended model is the Texas Instruments TI-30II. Other required materials
include:
1 ½ inch three ring binder with dividers or
5 – subject notebook and folder
Loose-leaf paper
Blue or black pens
Pencils
3 ring hole punch
