Panas Lakeland Football Game Rescheduled: Saturday's (September 6) Varsity football game between Walter Panas and Lakeland High Schools at Panas has been changed to an 11:00 a.m. kickoff due to the potential bad weather being forecast for Saturday night. The JV football game remains a 9:30 a.m. start at Lakeland High School.
Lakeland Schools Open September 3, Calendars Mailed: The Lakeland Central School District will open school on Wednesday September 3. District calendars have been mailed to parents and guardians. You can call the Public Information Office Monday through Friday to request a calendar and get placed on the mailing list (914-245-1700).
Building Cleaning Conducted at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School: The Lakeland Central School District conducted an immediate cleaning of the Benjamin Franklin Elementary School following receipt of a slightly elevated test by the Westchester County Health Dept. for the presence of PCBs. All activities at the school have been relocated (see above.) The District learned of the test results late Friday (July 18) afternoon. Two door areas were tested by the Health Department with only one area showing a slightly elevated level of PCBs. The test on the second area was under the levels recommended by the Health Department. The testing was conducted Monday, July 21 and results will be available next week. The Lakeland Central School District International Center for Teaching and Learning Styles Presents “Differentiated Instruction through Attention to Student Learning Styles," July 7 through July 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.: The seminar will be held at Walter Panas High School, 300 Croton Ave., Cortlandt Manor. During the week certified learning-styles trainers in the Dunn and Dunn Model will provide workshops that will lead to the opportunity for attendees to become certified learning-styles trainers. Click here to view the program. Upon arrival attendees will receive a color copy of the program.
