Character education has a prominent role in the lives of young children. Through a unique character education program, students engage in a multitude of activities to promote acts of kindness, good citizenship, and tasks that develop skills and strategies to become good problem solvers. All students will recognize the worth, quality, and importance of themselves, other people and their community.
As part of a district-wide initiative, Lincoln-Titus has also been implementing a new PositiveBehavioral Interventions and Supports model.PBIS was established to address the behavioral and discipline systems needed for successful learning and social development of students. The school-wide system includes proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.A system of acknowledgements will help motivate students to try their best and to encourage others as well.
The Character Education Committee has been working with the PBIS Team to teach and spread the word of the L-T TWIST as part of our school-wide behavioral expectations. The TWIST stands for Tolerance, Wise Choices, Inspiration, Safety, and Teamwork.Look out for members of the L-T family “twisting” in the hallways, classrooms, playground, bathroom, and cafeteria!
