LHS MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS Today is Wednesday, February 22, 2017 Cycle "B" Day
For the second straight week, the Lakeland District Debate Team had a stellar performance at the Harvard National Debate Tournament. Tim Callery received the 8th best speaker out of over 500 debaters and Noah Trungold finished 4 – 2 reaching the Triple Octofinals playoff round. Great job to all of our participants!
Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Basketball team who defeated Nyack on Saturday, 44 – 43, in the first round of playoffs. Colleen Walsh had 11 points, 13 rebounds and 7 steals and Kelsey Walsh added 11 points. Please come out and cheer on the girls on Thursday as they take on Eastchester in the second round. The game is home at 5:00 pm. Hope to see you there!
Be in the know before the TV show! Sign up with Ms. Griffin to read “The Handmaid’s Tale” for a student/staff Book Club discussion on April 4th. This dystopian tale is sure to spark discussion among our community. Our library has copies, it’s free on Kindle Unlimited, or every public library has copies available. Come join us!

The Phys Ed Department and the Human Rights/Kiva Club are hosting the 2017 Floor Hockey Tournament this Friday. Please sign up with Mr. Novak if you would like to participate.
Attention all LHS dancers: The Lakeland High School Dance Team will be hosting our annual Evening of Dance on Friday, April 28th. We are interested in auditioning all types of dances for this event. Anyone who would like to perform that evening is welcome to audition with us. Please prepare at least a minute of your piece for our auditions, which will take place in the Aerobics Room on Tuesday, February 28th. All styles of dance are welcome!
The Freshman class is selling “Sticky Wallets” for $5.00 in the Fine Arts Hallway by the Cafeteria during 4th period. Come and check them out!
ATTENTION LHS ATHLETES, will you be ready for tryouts on March 13th? You must have a current physical (dated from March 1, 2016) to try out. If you are using your own physician the nurse must have an updated physical turned in by February 24th. If you would like to schedule an appointment with the school physician please see the nurse ASAP. If you need medication you must obtain physician orders and parent written consent for this school year and that must also be turned into the nurse by February 24th. Registration online opens Friday, February 24th and closes on Monday, March 6th. Any other questions please see Mrs. DeVito in the nurse’s office.
