The Right Way to Write

Students at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School in grades K-5 are working extremely hard on improving their writing. As part of our Professional Learning Community, all grades are focusing on Standard 5 and Standard 10, as per the Writing Standards in the Common Core. From making revisions to using color editing, students have been focusing on increasing their volume of writing.

The student's writing is displayed in the hallway next to the cafeteria.  Next time you are visiting the school take a look! The Right Way to Write web pages have been created to share the writings with everyone.

By the end of the school year, all students will have created their own personal book at the Publishing Center.

Using materials purchased with a Lakeland Education Foundation grant, Benjamin Franklin Literacy Instructional Coach Amanda DiNapoli has been finding interactive ways to enhance vocabulary.

We will be adding student work throughout the year so check back often.

This year Benjamin Franklin Elementary has started the Physical Education Sports Buzz. Mrs. Hendershot, Coach Auerbach and Miss DiNapoli work with fifth grade students to establish the school's very own newspaper. Fifth grade students volunteer their time to write articles on Physical Education, Sports teams, biographies, etc. We are very proud of the student's hard work and are excited to see the next published editions!
