The character education has a prominent role in the lives of young children. Through a unique character education program, students engage in a multitude of activities to promote acts of kindness, good citizenship and tasks that develop skills and strategies to become good problem solvers. All students will recognize the worth, quality, and importance of themselves, other people and their community.
Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports
Benjamin Franklin Elementary School will be implementing the PBIS program to further support our Character Education program. We will be highlighting and celebrating positive behavior through a reward system in which every classroom will participate. This program will also look to supply students with skills to handle potentially negative situations and think about making "good choices".
Benjamin Franklin Elementary School has the acronym R.O.C.K.S. The R stands for Respectful, O stands for Organized, C stands for Cooperative, K stands for Kind, and S stands for Safe. When a student is exhibiting a positive behavior, we will reward the student with a ticket depicting a "Hornet". Every grade level has developed an acknowledgement chart for which student's can choose their reward for an agreed amount of "Hornet" tickets.
