Kindergarten Computer Awareness


Technology Benchmark VII: The student is a responsible citizen, worker, learner, community member and family member in a technological age.

  • Ethics: Advocate and apply positive social and ethical behaviors when using technology and identify the consequences of misuse.

Talk with the class about the DO's and DON'Ts when using the computer. Elicit any prior knowledge students may have from home or earlier computer use. Display a classroom poster T-chart illustrating both aspects. Student responses may include:

Do.....
Don't.....
Turn the computer on every day

Eat or drink near the computer.

Sit up straight and put both feet on the floor. Bang on the keyboard.
Practice using new computer terms. Put anything in the disk drives.
Use the keyboard with clean hands. Turn off the computers without permission.
Take turns. Run near computers.
Show respect for equipment and for others.
