Create
a laminated or some other type of sign that students can attach to a computer
that will serve as a reminder of designated terms. (Click here
for some posters that can be hung in the classroom.) Review computer vocabulary
and allow students to place the signs with the correct parts. The labels
can also contain a small diagram resembling the part to help students
with identification.
Show
students the "Save" and "Print"
buttons on the toolbar. Have students save their names and print them.
Using
a basic display menu on the desktop, show students how to use icons and
pull-down menus. Explain the relationship between the two. Replicate the
icons on index cards and assign student pairs the task of using the mouse
to click on the corresponding icons for practice.
